Update on the rebirth of the legendary 'Bultaco Pursang'

Pursang prototype - courtesy Jim Palau-Ribes

Editor’s Note:  Jim Palau Ribes corresponded with me almost a year ago about his attempt to revive the legendary Bultaco motorcycle brand. Here’s an update on progress of this monumental project straight from the source.

Hello,

My name is Jim Palau-Ribes . I sent you last December the information of the Pursang 450 project.

You can read that article here.

Since last year, we´ve been working in CAD developing the first ideas and the virtual model. We did the evolution of the frame and made all the efford stress and torsion analysis and simulations in computer. We worked also in all the components as the tank the seats, and all the plastic parts. Now we´ve arrived to the point to put everything together in a physical prototype. We have casted the Aluminum frame parts and starting all the machining tools needed for the welding process.

The complete functional prototype will be ready for test in about 3 months, and the engine is a Sherco 4.5 injection.

The main point of our project is the genuity and quality. The special feature in the frame is that with a simple operation it´s possible to modify the fork angle. It brings the possibility to modify your Pursang settings for transforming it into a Supermotard or Flattrack/Dirttrack and having the performance needed in each case. We are working as well in a swing arm that have enough length axis positions to be used in a Flattrack/Dirttrack or motocross. With this posibilities in the settings of the bike we want that our customers can enjoy different disciplines with the same bike and saving money on the modifications needed.

Now we wanted to share with you the previous step of the development before the main presentation.

I send you attached a computer rendered image. Also the link of the video we did last year and the blog where you can see the development process and find the last images:
