The popular book series, Twilight has now made it to the halls of Oxford University.  The Telegraph is reporting that students applying to Oxford University were asked a question about Twilight by Stephenie Meyer during the rigorous admissions process.

Mansfield College's Lucinda Rumsey explained that most applicants for English Literature will focus on the books they have read in school as preparation for their college interview.  The college is interested in what students may think about books they have read on their own time, for fun.  Interviewers for admission will ask questions that invite the students to analyze and think critically.

Here is the question that was asked in the interviews for applicants in English Literature:

"Why might it be useful for an English student to read the Twilight series?"

Whether or not you are a fan of the series, how might you answer the question?

Let us know below in the Comment Section!

The Twilight book series is currently being adapted to film with the second installment of four, The Twilight Saga: New Moon, expected in theaters November 20.

Even if you're not a fan yourself, it's still good to know about popular books so you are familiar with what other people are reading and have your own opinion about it, good or bad. I don't know if that answer would get me into Oxford, but that's what I think! lol.

"Why might it be useful for an English student to read the Twilight series?"

Reading the Twilight series can help you in writing your own fiction by analyzing how the characters change and evolve in each book. What was the plot in each book and how is it tied to the book before and after it? As you read you can become aware of literary stereotypes, such as the Eve and Lillith stereo types in the female develop of the characters. There is so much in literature that is in the Twilight Series.
