On April 29. 1993, Joe Soucheray invented Garage Logic for his AM 1500 KSTP's signal talk radio show. Garage Logic is a make believe town in East Central Minnesota. It is filled with interesting characters and terminology.
In the spring, when the temperature hits 70 degrees, the townspeople open their garage doors and start socializing. They keep track of how many cylinders they each store in their garages, and hand out hardware to Trick-Or-Treaters on Halloween.
The married men abide by the 48-Hour Rule. If their wives don't notice a large purchase within 48 hours, they do not have to justify it. They prefer moving instead of sitting in traffic, even if it means taking a less direct route. They think there is a creature at the golf course. Their favorite meal is tomatoes, onions, and bologna.
But what is most important is that the people of Garage Logic have bonded. They have fun together and support each other.
Garage Logic: A Companion Guide to Life in the Radio Town was written by Joe Soucheray, illustrated by Greg Holcomb, and published by Beaver's Pond Press. This book can be requested from a St Paul Public Library and a Ramsey County Library.
