Hannibal’s investigation uncovered evidence connecting the Algerian to Russian mob money. The death of the girl’s father several years earlier was ruled a suicide, but new information could prove otherwise. Even the Algerian’s identity is in question. The action is nonstop.
Russian Roulette is the latest in the Hannibal Jones mystery thriller series. Set in Washington D.C., you will smell, hear and taste the streets and buildings of the district. Austin’s descriptions place you in the room with Hannibal and the intriguing characters you feel you know so well you could pick them from a police lineup. The plot is woven, not straight like the grid of D.C. streets, but with twists and turns of mountain switchback roads. Hannibal initially takes the case to protect Cindy, but completes the investigation to uncover the truth that was hidden for years and to stop the Red Mafiya behind the murders.
While this is not the first in the Hannibal Jones series, you can start with Russian Roulette and still get to know the characters immediately. Be forewarned, however, that it will make you want to go back and pick up the previous Camacho novels you haven’t already read so you don’t miss out on Hannibal’s prior adventures.
