Just in time for the November release of “The Twilight Saga: New Moon,” Open Book Society is giving fans and newcomers alike a chance to really sink their teeth (pun intended) into the second installment of Stephenie Meyer’s Twilight Saga.
Today, OBS launched its first ever book club – and this month, they are focusing on New Moon. Every day in the month of September, the site will feature a new chapter from the book – including a summary, discussion questions, characters involved, places visited, significant events and memorable quotes.
OBS also invites readers to go deeper into the book – by exchanging their thoughts and ideas on their forum. The site founders say the book club is a chance for readers to pick apart aspects of their favorite books.
“We hope our readers feel excited about their favorite books again. We hope they understand the book better,” OBS co-founder Dawn N. Smith says about the book club. “For me, personally, a good book discussion always brings issues and ideas to the forefront that I never considered or thought about when I read the book by myself.”
But the OBS book club is for newcomers, too. Even if you’ve never read New Moon, OBS welcome you to read along, think about the book and ask questions together with other readers.
“We provide a way for fans to come together and make friends while discussing each chapter,” Smith says.
OBS is involving other fan sites in their book clubs, as well. For this month, several Twilight fan sites are participating. TwilightFanSource.com will be providing a character breakdown for Bella and Jacob, Novel Novice Twilight will be featuring their top 5 favorite moments from New Moon, and Edward-Cullen.net will share their top 5 reasons to be Team Switzerland. (If you’re new to the Twilight universe, the phrase “Team Switzerland” refers to fans who can’t choose between Edward and Jacob, the two main rivals for heroine Bella’s affections.)
Maybe The Twilight Saga isn’t your cup of tea. Don’t worry. OBS has already planned out the next several months of book clubs – and future books include The Time Traveler’s Wife, Dead Until Dark (Sookie Stackhouse Book 1), and The Vampire Diaries.
