Filmmakers continue breathing new life into Stephenie Meyer’s “The Twilight Saga: Eclipse” – as filming of the book-to-movie adaptation wraps up its third week in Vancouver, British Columbia.
Production of the series moved to Canada starting with the second movie in the franchise – “The Twilight Saga: New Moon” – but the first movie, “Twilight,” was made right here in the Portland-metro area. Since then, the filmmakers have been recreating Portland locations used in “Twilight” as they work on the sequels.
This week was no exception, as filmmakers got to work on the set of protagonist Bella Swan’s house. In the original movie, crews used an actual house in the St. Helens area. For the sequels, “New Moon” and now “Eclipse,” crews built from scratch a recreation of the St. Helens house – with a few adjustments to make filming easier (such as a few missing walls).

The folks at Twi-Fans captured a few photos of the house still under wraps on Monday (the plastic likely protecting the set-house from both the elements and prying eyes).
Throughout the week, filming returned to Bella’s house. Lainey Gossip reports that scenes filmed at Bella’s house this week included moments between both Bella (Kristen Stewart) and her werewolf-friend Jacob (Taylor Lautner), romantic scenes between Bella and her vampire boyfriend Edward (Robert Pattinson), and Bella hanging out with her human friend, Angela (Christian Serratos), as “they talk about boys and Bella’s Edward/Jacob love triangle.”
Later, Lainey Gossip also reported that crews filmed a scene, in which the bad-vampire Riley (Xavier Samuel) creeps into Bella’s room – while Edward acts the hero and realizes someone was there.
Lainey Gossip also reports that most of the filming for the scenes at Bella’s house were moved inside to a soundstage – away from fans and photographers, alike. But cameras were snapping on Monday – when Kristen Stewart was spotted filming a scene with Sarah Clarke, who plays Bella’s mother, Renee. In the photos, you can see them conferring with director David Slade.

Photographers snapped photos of Kristen Stewart in her wig as
Bella Swan on the set of "The Twilight Saga: Eclipse" this week.
Fan reaction to her wig last week was mixed … this week, it’s almost entirely negative. Fans have been complaining on blogs and in comments on fan sites that the wig looks “totally fake.” Here’s hoping it looks a lot better in the final product.
Meanwhile – Summit Entertainment continues promoting the second movie in the series, “The Twilight Saga: New Moon” – which comes out in U.S. theaters on November 20th.
Tickets for midnight showings on November 19th started going on sale this week, and some tickets for screenings in the Portland area are among those already selling fast. You can now buy tickets online.
Summit also released several new promotional posters for “New Moon,” including one of Bella and Edward alone – sans Jacob. It’s an interesting choice, since (spoiler alert!) Edward is gone for most of “New Moon” and Jacob steps into a bigger role in Bella’s life. Still, the die-hard Edward fans will enjoy this poster – as well as two others featuring Edward himself. Jacob fans can also get their fix with a new poster of their favorite werewolf, as well.
