Poet, performer, librettist, and CalArts teacher Douglas Kearney will be presenting his book Fear, Some from LA's Red Hen Press. In this video Kearney gives a passionate reading of his poem "The Chitlin Circuit" at Spelman College. Warning: This video contains language that may be offensive to some viewers.
 

 

Hollywood poet and teacher at The Windward School in West LA, Brendan Constantine will present his poetry collection Letters To Guns, also published by Red Hen Press, in February 2009. In this video by Poetry.LA, Constantine, the featured reader for the Valley Contemporary Poets series at the Tarzana Community & Cultural Center, reads seven of his poems, including, "The Body," "The Wild Flowers," and "In the Houses of the Night". 

 

LA poet and singer Elizabeth Iannaci will present her chapbook Passion's Casualties from ITWASADARKANDSTORMYNIGHT Press. In this Poetry LA video, another Valley Contemporary Poets reading series feature, Iannaci reads a number of her poems, including "Casual Nexus," and "Haute Couture as Witness".
