Zombie Strike - Beatles Zombification due June 2010

Following the success of Pride and Prejudice and Zombies, Pocket Books will be releasing another in the Zombie Genre, Paul is Undead. The book, written by Alan Goldsher, uses The The Beatles musical journey as the story path, adding serious zombification to the tale. The music/horror mash-up is due to hit shelves in June 2010.

Goldsher has been a ghostwriter for Bernie Mac, Fred Willard, Robert Englund and others.  In addition, he has written books on Art Blakely and Modest Mouse, giving hope that along with zombification, Paul is Undead may reveal some musical insight as well. Mr. Goldsher is the proud author of the Little Black Dress line of Chick Lit novels.

The Goldsher website includes this glimpse into Paul is Undead:

“Our story begins on October 9, 1840, in the Liverpool, England. An African nzambi hides in the town’s newly-built sewer system, only to reemerge exactly one century later at the Liverpool Maternity Hospital, in the room of Julia Lennon. The hungry nzambi takes a chomp from Julia’s newborn’s neck, and John Lennon is undead, a zombie with otherworldly powers, who will roam the Earth for eternity.

In 1957, John, now a burgeoning singer and guitarist, meets Paul McCartney, a Liverpudlian with musical dreams of his own. Sensing a kindred spirit, John bites off Paul’s ear and sucks out his mate’s grey matter, after which he spits a healthy amount of his own brain into Paul’s carotid artery—and thus is born the greatest songwriting team in rock history. John and Paul zombify local guitarist George Harrison, then welcome seventh level Ninja Lord Ringo Starr into the fold.”

Pocket Books and Goldsher are clearly gambling that their Zombie reimagining of the British Invasion will be as profitable as the actual Beatles’s Catalogue.

It's reported that Goldsher and his agent, Jason Ashlock are also looking to sell The Secretion, a monster themed parody of The Secret, the best-selling self-help book. One has to hope they do so before a zombie sucks the brains of the publishing gurus.
