Neil Gaiman's Twitter story

Neil Gaiman, best known for his book versions of Stardust and Coraline, will embark on the Internet's first-ever Twitter storytelling.

Gaiman's Twitter experiment started today, Oct. 13, at noon.  The fantasy author first Tweeted a single sentence: "Sam was brushing her hair when the girl in the mirror put down the hairbrush, smiled & said, 'We don't love you anymore.'"

The Tweet included a Trending Topic label of #bbcawdio, which indicates the project's partner, BBC Audiobooks.

Since Gaiman submitted his first Tweet, hundreds of his followers have chimed in, and the story grows every minute.  Interestingly enough, the story has (so far) stayed on track with Gaiman's original Sam character, and has grown to include a Coraline-esque subplot of puppets and mirrors.

When the project is complete, Gaiman and the BBC will collect the story threads in order to create a short story.  The story will then be recorded as a BBC Audiobook, which will be available for free on iTunes.
