"The Blind Side" movie had quite a first weekend.
"The Blind Side" book didn't do so bad either.
The movie, which stars Sandra Bullock and tells the feel-good rags-to-riches story of Baltimore Ravens rookie offensive lineman Michael Oher, opened in theaters across the country this past weekend.
Though "The Blind Side" was overshadowed by the $140.7 million opening weekend of "The Twilight Saga: New Moon," it took in an impressive $34.5 million to place a solid second in front of "2012."
The early buzz about the movie appears to have spurred sales of the book on which it's based. Sales of "The Blind Side" rank fifth in the sports category on Amazon.com.
That's pretty good for a book that has been out for several years. Michael Lewis is the author of "The Blind Side." Though Lewis has had a number of excellent books -- notably "Liar's Poker" and "Moneyball" -- "The Blind Side" was every bit as good.
It appears that audiences are rediscovering that as Lewis' words hit the big screen.
