Rupert Murdoch's single-minded pursuit to purchase The Wall Street Journal for his News Corp. empire is detailed in an upcoming book by the WSJ reporter who covered the Australian mogul's drawn-out bidding process for the paper.
Sarah Ellison's "War at the Wall Street Journal: Inside the Struggle to Control an American Business Empire" is due out May 1. Houghton Mifflin Harcourt is the publisher of the 304-page book.
According to the book's Amazon page, it's a "tale about big business, an imploding dynasty, a mogul at war, and a deal that sums up an era of change."
The story about Murdoch's $5 billion pursuit of the Bancroft family's crown jewel already has one prominent reader, CNBC reports.
Arthur Sulzberger Jr., the publisher of The New York Times (which the WSJ is increasingly going after), was spotted reading the book on a recent flight to Switzerland.
Those who can't wait until May 1 to read the saga might consider Michael Wolff's "The Man Who Owns the News: Inside the Secret World of Rupert Murdoch." That too goes into Murdoch's epic battle to win over the Bancroft family.
