Michael Oher hasn't and won't read 'The Blind Side'

Americans are flocking to movie theaters to watch "The Blind Side," which stars Sandra Bullock as Leigh Anne Tuohy, a Memphis woman who plucked Michael Oher off the mean streets and adopted him into her family.

"The Blind Side" was the no. 2 movie in America last weekend, trailing only the blockbuster "The Twilight Saga: New Moon."

The popularity of "The Blind Side" movie has spurred sales of Michael Lewis' book by the same name, which inspired the movie. That book, though written in 2006, is back into Amazon's top 100 bestsellers due in part to the film's popularity.

But Michael Oher himself is not among the readers, Sports Illustrated reveals in an interesting article in this week's edition.

Oher only flipped through "The Blind Side," and he doesn't plan to see the movie. He's more interested in improving on his skills as the Baltimore Ravens' starting right tackle. Oher has started every game this year in his rookie campaign and has drawn praise for his ability.

Not surprising. The book and movie (which are both excellent) show Oher's ability to move forward without dwelling on his troubled past.

Saw "Blindside" over Thanksgiving. WOW! 5 stars. Our family was grateful to see this tender hearted film drill down to what folks in America need to do to help each other out. Racism is a cancer in our country. Nice to see Ms. Bulloch involved in this project, too. I also liked how she told off the thug who threatened revenge - 'prayer w/the DA, NRA membership & don't mess w/my family!' - favorite line in the whole film!

I saw the movie yesterday with my friend Frank, who I just found after 20 years. We were childhood friends. It was a great movie. The unselffishness of the family is just so wonderful to see. Sandra Bullock Rocked. Go see this movie for yourself it's worth the $10. ticket

Please! More social engineering pap from the "entertainment" branch of the Powers That Be Master Indoctrination Plan. The movies' message seems to be that (well off) and extra guilty white families should adopt their very own big teddy bear of a poor ill-raised black man. They're so cute and cuddly and oh-so abused, poor dears. Yes extra guilty white folks, REDEEM yo'selves, Hallelujah!! I've already ordered some for my nieces and nephews this Christmas.

Bullfeathers. This wasn't some random, one time, one afternoon 'we get to feel good' act of kindness to feel good yourself. This was a huge commitment to another human being and that comes from the heart. What produced more, the love given by this family or your type of cynicism? One changed a child's life, the other, absolutely nothing.
