A previously unreleased performance of Bob Dylan covering a Woody Guthrie song is one of the highlights of "The People Speak", an upcoming documentary that "celebrates democracy". The film will premiere on the History Channel on Sunday, December 13, at 8 p.m. ET. The soundtrack, on Verve/UMe, will drop on Tuesday, December 8. The track listing:

Among the songs that did not make final cut are two Woody Guthrie covers: Springsteen's "This Land Is Your Land", and Dylan's "Vigilante Man". These tracks may eventually appear on the official website, or the 2010 release of the DVD/Blu-Ray. The street date for both the regular and the "Collector's Edition" DVD is expected to be January 26.

On October 20, 1979, Bob Dylan appeared on "Saturday Night Live". He premiered three songs live on the show: "Gotta Serve Somebody", "I Believe In You", and "When You Gonna Wake Up". These performances are expected to be included in the upcoming 7 DVD box set, "Saturday Night Live: The Complete Fifth Season 1979-1980". It will be released on December 1.

Dylan was promoting his most recent album, "Slow Train Coming". The host was Monty Python's Eric Idle. This was the line-up : Bob Dylan (vocal & guitar), Fred Tackett (guitar), Spooner Oldham (keyboards), Tim Drummond (bass), Terry Young (keyboards), Jim Keltner (drums), Regina Havis , Helena Springs , Mona Lisa Young (background vocals). SNL was often edited for re-broadcast, so these versions may differ slightly from versions viewers may have originally seen.
