Daniel Lanois, the musician and producer who worked with Bob Dylan on the acclaimed albums Oh Mercy and Time Out Of Mind, has been seriously hurt in a motorcycle accident, and canceled his upcoming tour, according to EW.com. He is currently in intensive care.

Here's part of the press release:
“Lanois suffered multiple injuries but is expected to be released from intensive care soon. Due to the severity of the injuries, Lanois…will be recuperating for the next two months.”
In mid-1988, Dylan played U2's Bono some songs that were written for an upcoming album, which became Oh Mercy. Bono suggested Lanois as a producer.
Dylan was also impressed with Lanois' production of the Neville Brothers album, 1989's Yellow Moon, which featured two Dylan covers, "The Ballad Of Hollis Brown", and, with additional lyrics, "With God On Our Side". Lanois also produced Emmylou Harris' cover of "Every Grain Of Sand".

Lanois has recently been working on Neil Young's next album.

Well personally, i think that Lanois covered Dylan's music in a thick New Orleans fog, especially Time outta Mind which had a few Tim Buckley flourishes to boot. I prefer the elusive Jack Frost who gives a cleaner, crisper, healthier sound and has more Rockabilly sensibilities and a better understanding of American Music in general. Saying that Lanois is a very talented musician in his own right and probably instilled confidence in Ole Jack again. So get well soon Daniel, music needs you!!
