Bob Dylan's next album, "Christmas In The Heart"
Bob Dylan’s official website has published information about the singer’s upcoming collection of Christmas songs. Dylan’s 34th studio album is titled “Christmas In The Heart”, and will be released on October 13. The album will be available in at least two formats - a regular CD, and a special edition which includes five postcards. Dylan’s last two albums of new material, 2006’s “Modern Times”, and this year’s “Together Through Life”, both entered the charts at number one.
According to bobdylan.com, all of the artist’s royalties will benefit charities feeding those in need throughout the holiday season, and beyond. Dylan’s comments at 1985’s “Live-Aid” concert led to the annual Farm-Aid charity concerts founded by Willie Nelson, Neil Young, and John Mellencamp. Dylan toured with Nelson and Mellencamp this past summer.
According to the Dylan fan-site Isis , the album was recorded in May of this year at Jackson Browne’s Groove Masters semi-private recording studio, located in Santa Monica, California. Besides the songs confirmed by Dylan’s site (“Here Comes Santa Claus”, “Winter Wonderland”, “Little Drummer Boy” and “Must Be Santa”), Isis have reported the possible inclusion of “I’ll Be Home For Christmas”, “O Little Town of Bethlehem”, and “Silver Bells”.
Dylan, born Robert Allen Zimmerman, was brought up Jewish, spent a few years at the end of the 1970’s into the early 1980’s practicing fundamentalist Christianity, before returning to Orthodox Judaism. On Dylan’s satellite radio program “Theme Time Radio Hour”, Dylan hosted a two-hour program in 2006 devoted to the Christmas holiday season, during which he recited the poems “’Twas The Night Before Christmas” and “Christmas Bells”.
