The Blues You Can Use is a weekly non-profit Blues show that is broadcast live on the internet every Thursday night from 7:00 PM until 10:00 PM Central Standard Time. The show is hosted by Clarence Stevens. He has been educating a new generation of Blues listeners throughout the Northwest Indiana and South Chicago area by broadcasting the Blues for over 20 years. It's straight out of Gary, Indiana's only FM radio station 88.7 FM - WGVE.
To connect, type www.blueswebradio.com. Click listen live tab, click the play arrow and you will hear the broadcast live. Gary is a mere 31.32 miles away from downtown Chicago. Kind of like your next door neighbor playing music in their backyard.
In May of 2006, The Legendary Queen Of The Blues - Koko Taylor became a welcome addition to the show as co-host. Clarence has mentioned that Koko's daughter would have a role on the show in the future.
Clarence has been known to also hang out with the likes of his personal friends Artie "Blues Boy" White, Bobby Blue Bland, and a ton of other national and local Blues artists when they come into town as you can see in their photo sections.
You'll hear traditional blues like Z.Z. Hill, Bobby Blue Bland, Luther Allison, and Koko Taylor. Hear younger generation of blues men like Ronnie Baker Brooks and The Kinsey Report. You may get a treat like B.B. King accompanied by jazz man Dave Brubeck on piano. You might hear a double or triple play by an artist. You might hear something you never heard before because Clarence brought it back with him from Mississippi or a certain female guitarist because she plays the guitar better than him.
You can listen to some archived shows. You can click on links to some of the best blues artists. Check out their music store. You'll find featured new releases as well as an alphabetical list of artists that will connect you to their catalogs. You may see an ad for some blues youngsters like C4. If you never heard of C4, you will want to soon. There are Facebook, Myspace, and Twitter connections also to find out even more about the show and host.
So after dinner tonight, turn on your computer or radio, kick back, and enjoy one of the best blues shows around.
