Top 3 JFX Billboards

May 21, 8:43 AM
by Chris Catalano, Baltimore Ad Examiner

Amidst my morning drive, I tend to stop paying attention to the radio sometimes. Whether it be the morning show I felt like or something from my iPod that would probably be too embarrassing to have on if I carpooled, the billboards along 83 provide another way to steal my attention from the road.

Alas, the Top 3 JFX billboards, circa May 21, 2008...

1. Natty Boh/Utz Proposal: Arguably two of the most recognizable figures in Baltimore used perfectly. You would hope the Utz girl said yes, but I'm not sure she looks like the moustache type.

2. Smyth Jewelers "Decision": Staying on the topic of proposals, MGH continues to strike gold with Smyth's creative. "This might be the last decision you get to make" does a great job in grabbing the guy's attention, while also hopefully allowing women to stop saying "He went to Jared!"

3. Maryland Lottery's "What Would You Tell Your Boss...": If you won a million dollars? Ads that pose such meaningful questions keep the target engaged longer. I've seen the ad this morning and I'm still thinking about it.

And now for a random piece of advertising that I wish I could drive by every morning.
