September 5, 11:57 AM

Victorian chest of drawers
Victorian mourning brooch $70.49

The American Victorian revial period (1870-1910), has made a popular comeback with collectors for different reasons. There is the Goth youth that loves the clothing and jewelry from the era.

The genre is also collected by decorators, homemakers, and those interested in funeray related items. All this naturally means that antiques dealers would begin to take notice and they have.

For a while, the antiques of this period were put on the back burner by purists because most of these items were machine made as they came after the Industrial Revolution in 1830. But antiques dealers believe in giving the people what they want, and many of them will admit that Victorian antiques have an aire of mystery about them and are now in the marketplace as a staple.

Included here are some items that have closed recently on eBay and their final bid prices.

Many American familes had these celluoid memorial plaques. Morbid by some standards today, but collectible.

These beatiful embossed leather covered Bibles are very popular right now. Look for ones with nice gold gilt decoration and good quality engravings inside.

Let's play "What's it Worth". Can you guess the appraised value of the chest of drawers on the right?
