Adam Meister's scribe spreads his innate enthusiasm for all things Baltimore--and, in particular, the political inner workings of his beloved hometown.
I was able to attend the Druid Heights community meeting today. For 80 minutes the meeting focused on the two recent murders on Bloom street, drug activity, and what police plan to do about it.
Four members of the police force were there including Major Bailey. Councilman Bill Cole was in attendance and he spoke. He mentioned how there have been 5 murders in the 11th district recently. Bill Cole was the only politician in attendance.
This actually was the second meeting that discussed the violence. There was also an emergency meeting on Monday. Today's meeting had over 40 people there.
There was a police lieutenant there that many of you would have enjoyed. I forgot his name now. He said that there would be two footman around Bloom street for a while now. He urged people to call 911. He said his cops were going to be aggressive and they were going to try and arrest the trouble makers. Either he or the major was asked about why the criminals get out of jail right away. Whoever answered said it was Patricia Jessamy's fault. The police said that the state's attorney requires two witnesses for a murder. He urged citizens to complain to Patricia Jessamy's office.
