Cookin' Out

May 30, 11:39 AM
by Juliette Goodwin, Baltimore Food Examiner

Last weekend lived up to its reputation as the weekend of grilling. My husband said “shouldn’t we grill something tonight?” Saturday afternoon, so we called some friends we hadn’t seen in a long time and miraculously they a.) were available, and b.) had just gone to a meat market and had picked up tons of grilling possibilities.

I picked up some salmon, baked beans and slaw and we had us a proper burger and fish cook out!

Sunday afternoon found us at a good friends place down the street, mowing on some hot Italian sausages and grilled chicken breast soaked in lemon juice. The girls had their first popsicles and, of course, thoroughly enjoyed them.

Finally Monday, Memorial Day proper, we ended up at another friends place nearby where cute little turkey burger wimpies and BBQ chicken breast treats were served. All catalysts for ketchup, so my daughters were happy. There were also copious amounts of potato chips and pretzels which are perfect finger foods for little paws.
