Yes, they are now ready for their close-up… WHO: You and the giraffes at The Maryland Zoo in Baltimore WHAT: Come on out and try your hand at feeding a giraffe! Watch them reach for a piece of acacia, wrap their 18-inch tongues on the leaves and then chew and swallow the whole branch… WHEN:Saturday, May 10, 2008 ....weather permitting the Giraffe Feeding Station will now be open to the public, this season from 10.30 a.m.- 3. 30 p.m. daily. WHERE: The new Giraffe Feeding Station at The Maryland Zoo in Baltimore The Zoo’s five giraffes watched curiously as the Station was being constructed last year, and they have spent the Spring exploring the new area and learning to take “browse” – branches of acacia – from people. It will cost $2 per branch for the public to feed the giraffes. The Giraffe Feeding Station will be open from 10-4 daily, weather permitting.
