FREEDOMYEARS.COM- A health resource for seniors.

Retirement Living TV (RLTV) announced yesterday the launch of Our Freedom Years (FreedomYears.com), a portal for reliable health information and user interaction concerning issues on aging.  The website features a search engine for researching health from trusted sources such as Erickson Health, the nation’s largest practice of geriatric physicians, the National Institutes of Health, RLTV’s program Healthline, and other notable news outlets and organizations across the country. The site also includes lively discussions, user profiles, online journals and support groups.

Our Freedom Years is unique from other health information websites in that it has pulled together a wealth of medical expertise in a single senior-centric online portal brought to you by Erickson, the trusted leader in aging, and RLTV, the only network for people retiring and those in active retirement,” said Brad Knight, president of RLTV.

It’s a vertical site for WWW.RL.TV, which was recently named among the top ten boomer sites by PCMagazine.com. Specifically designed for interactivity and user-experience, the portal’s goal is to bring people together to talk about health and to provide them with relevant information and resources.

"For the first time, all of Erickson's institutional knowledge about aging -- from sources like Erickson Health, the Erickson Tribune, and Retirement Living TV -- is being collected in a single online destination at FreedomYears.com," said Dr. Matt Narrett, Chief Medical Officer of Erickson Retirement Communities.  "The site, which is free and easily searchable, serves as a powerful resource for those concerned with healthy aging."

In the three months since the site has been in beta-testing, thousands of boomers and seniors have explored the FreedomYears.com portal.  Among the most popular components to date are:

 ·        Brain and memory improvement games, including Sudoku and the LA Times crossword puzzle

 ·        “Elderberries,” a popular daily comic strip that focuses on the humor surrounding aging

 ·        The informative videos from the Healthline library

 ·        Useful tips on the detection and prevention of Alzheimer’s disease

Every month a new health subject will be introduced including blogs and video blogs on aging matters. Our Freedom Years will also be adding a real-time “Ask the Doctor” interactive feature. Registered users will also have a place to store and share their personal health information.
