Mexican Tall Ship Launches Sail Baltimore's 2008 Season Today

Who: Sail Baltimore

What: Official Launch: Sail Baltimore Season of Sail ‘08 with the Official launch ceremony of  The Cuauhtemoc, the Mexican navy training tall ship. Dignitaries and elected officials from The Mexican Embassy, United States Navy and Coast Guard, Port of Baltimore and others will take part in this first welcoming ceremony of the season.

When: Thursday, May 8, 2008 --10 a.m.-Arrival of Cuauhtemoc
Where:  Inner Harbor West Wall

Schedule of Events

10 a.m.-Arrival

12 Noon – Official Welcoming Ceremony and Season Launch for Sail Baltimore’s Season of Sail ‘08

12:30 – 1:00 p.m. – Press may board the ship for photos and interview the Commanding Officer

Sail Baltimore,  is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, the region’s only visiting ships organizer, will launch its Season of Sail ’08 today. The Cuauhtemoc will be closely followed on May 24 with Corwith Cramer, a 134’ Brigantine from Massachusetts and on May 27 with the arrival of the Juan Sebastian Elcano, the Navy sail training tall ship from Spain. Sail Baltimore will welcome more than two-dozen ships overall through the end of the year.
