    An early gas-sipping goody

    1982 Honda Civic - The car manufacturers are trying to get back to
     
    With sky-high fuel prices, what
    is the most dependable and fuel
    efficient transportation? Walking!
     
    All exercise aside, many auto
    manufacturers are scaling down
    cars with lighter weight and
    smaller engines to increase fuel
    economy.
     
    In many instances, these
    economical “money saving”
    cars are quite expensive. 
    Make a monthly car payment
    and a monthly fuel payment
    and it adds up!
     
     
    In 1982 Honda offered a sweet little sedan with a 1500cc engine called the Civic. It is a car that many auto manufacturers are trying to get back to.
     
    The 82 Civic had small exterior dimensions, but it could transport four passengers. It had perfectly weighted and communicative steering. It had double wishbone suspension and an excellent ride for such a small vehicle. The small engine sipped fuel through a little carburetor rather than today’s compacted fuel injection. It was available in an automatic transmission or a smooth-shifting 5 speed. The interior was thoughtfully put together and the car was reliable. 
     
    One drawback of this vehicle was the tendency of the body to rust. However, the little Civic held up quite well in the warmer areas of the country. 
     
    You can get a car that manufacturers are trying to get back to at an economical cost of $1,000 – $3,000. Additionally, the insurance and monthly fuel payment will be reasonable too!
     
    If you want to beat the high cost of driving, look for a 82-83 Honda Civic sedan in the south or in a state like California.  
     
    With its fuel economy of 55 miles per gallon on the highway , this early goody might be a modern fuel saving used car for you! How do I know that this Civic is a sweet car? I owned one and I would like to get back to one! Consider joining me!
