A Honda Fit for You?

May 21, 5:13 AM
by Kyle Busch, Automotive Examiner

U.S News & World Report dispatches that the
Honda Fit ranks number 2 out of 29 affordable
small cars. The ranking is based on the magazine’s
analysis of 66 reviews of the vehicle and the all
important aspects of reliability and safety data.

The Honda Fit - A Small Motoring Wonder

In 2007 Road & Track and Motor Trend
conducted comparison tests of the Honda Fit with
the Toyota Yaris and Nissan Versa. Both magazines
concluded that the Fit was the car with the “fun-
to-drive” component and the most “utility.”

The 2008 Honda Fit has won more that just comparison
tests. This car was selected as one of Car and Driver’s
10 Best for 2008. Additionally, the Fit received
Popular Mechanics’ Automotive Excellence Award.

Popular Mechanics sums up the Fit stating: “For
a small, so-called B-Car, the Fit has what may be
class-leading handling, ride, steering feel and brakes.
Then, toss in the Fit’s surprising interior adaptability
with seats that flip fold and offer more passenger and
cargo carrying combinations than many minivans.
Finally, Honda’s hallmark quality and attention to
detail… mean the sum of the parts makes the Fit
seem much more than just another B-Car.”

U.S. News & World Repot provides the following
rating of the Fit:

U.S.News Scores
Overall:
              9.2
Performance:
              8.1
Exterior:
              7.7
Interior:
              8.3
Safety:
              8.3
Reliability:
             10.0

Pros:

  • Distinctive "magic seat" design for four different seating or cargo options
  • Fun to drive compared to other subcompacts
  • Well-equipped interior with plenty of standard features

Cons:

  • Mixed opinions on seat comfort and support
  • Some report it's not as fuel efficient as its size indicates

The Honda Fit delivers more than its size suggests. This car may well
be a good fit for your motoring needs!
