Orioles Win on Powerful Eighth

Bynum throws the firstOn Friday night in Toronto, the Orioles couldn’t score a run until the eighth.  But when the eighth came, my did they ever score.

On three homeruns, one each from Mora, Millar, and Jones, and an RBI from Markakis to highlight his 4 for 4 night, the O’s brought in 6 runs in the eighth inning to get ahead of the Jays for good, 6-5.

Brian Burres looked lost on the mound through his 4 and 1/3 innings.  His 3 earned runs aren’t indicative of quiet how bad he looked from start to finish.

This is the 3rd poor start for the lefty whose ERA has ballooned to 4.96 and whose last win came back on May 17th against Washington.  As a result, Trembley has announced the Brian Burres will be skipped on his next turn in the rotation.

George Sherrill locked down the 9th for his 21st save, which is second in the American League behind only Francisco Rodriquez.  For how much longer will Sherrill wear an Orioles uniform?

Score: 6-5 Orioles, (Box Score)

Next Game: Blue Jays Sat 1:07PM Guthrie (2-6) v. Burnett (5-5)

Current Record: 30-30, 6GB
