UPDATE - It's official, Radhames Liz will make Tuesday's start in Minnesota and Luis Hernandez has been sent back to the farm leaving a three man bench- Quiroz, Cintron, and Payton.

The long hot weekend seemed worlds away as Adam Jones cruised into second.  With two out in the bottom of the eighth and the bases loaded, the young center fielder scored all three runners and finally gave the home fans a lead that would stick.

George Sherrill, newly buzzing trade bait, tried to keep things interesting in the ninth by bringing the tying run to the plate in Manny Ramirez.

Fitting, given the way the weekend went that Manny would be at the plate, but Mr. 500’s big shot fell short and the Orioles hung on to win 6-3.

Of course, Jeremy Guthrie’s 5Ks in 6.1 innings and only 2 earned runs wasn’t enough to earn him a win but thanks to Adam Jones it didn’t saddle him with a loss either.

Jim Johnson looked vulnerable for the second appearance in a row after looking so dominant early in the season.  He was lucky to escape with only one run after struggling to get outs in the top of the eighth and was rewarded with the victory.

Matt Albers made a one out appearance in the seventh seemingly indicating that Radhames Liz will be called up from Norfolk to make Tuesday’s start.  Liz’s last appearance was a single scoreless inning 5/31 getting him on schedule to take his major league slot.

His line so far with Norfolk features 1 win with 5 losses, an ERA of 4.05 and 58 Ks on 60 innings in 11 starts.  It’s not official yet, but Liz would be taking on Kevin Slowey (2-4) in Minnesota.

Score: 6-3 Orioles Win, Box Score
Highlights: Adam Jones 3 RBI eighth inning 2 out go-ahead double
Next Game: Twins, Tuesday 8:10PM, Unconfirmed vs. Kevin Slowey
Current Record: 27-29, 7.5 GB
