Phil Macek treats every aspect of the Ravens--from the preseason to the last snap of the game--as if it's fourth and inches and the game's tied late in the fourth quarter. He'll keep you up to speed on all things Ravens.
I'm not going to pull any punches here. Derrick Martin was arrested on possession charges in Cleveland recently. The Ravens response should be swift and severe: Derrick Martin should be shown the door. Look, he's a sixth-round pick for starters. He's not going to the hall of fame. At best, he'll be a journeyman who bounces around from team to team and struggles to find a roster spot. Let him be somebody else's problem.
I know what you're thinking, he deserves a second chance and all that. Yeah, maybe, but not here. If John Harbaugh really cares about steering the team in a new direction and making character matter, he has to convince the top brass to let Martin go. It's plain and simple.
In this day and age, I am sick to death of all the well-paid (hell, extremely over paid) athletes who consider themselves beyond reproach. Sorry, Derrick, you did something illegal and got caught. Now it's time to pay the price. Let Derrick and all the others see what it's like to have a non-glamorous 40-hour/week job, where, at the end of the week, you're lucky to have a couple of bucks left over for a dinner out with friends. Maybe then they would appreciate their ridiculous salaries. Maybe.
I know that this is a relatively minor thing in the grand scheme of things, but it's important for the Ravens to do the right thing. If they care about their standing in the community and all the fans who have young kids, they will. Here's hoping they do.
There's never a good time to lay an egg like Baltimore did Sunday. A complete wash, from the lax defense to the turnovers. Joe Flacco looked like the rookie that he is. And let's talk about Flacco for a moment. I can't hold Flacco... Read More Topics:

The Ravens renew their rivalry with the Colts this weekend. Let's face it, the Colts and Ravens have played some memorable games lately, including the 15-6 playoff loss Baltimore suffered a few years back. The rivalry is fueled by history,... Read More
It's almost to the point where I'm looking for Todd Heap on the side of a milk carton. Have you seen his stats this season? Seven catches catches for 78 yards? He's had that kind of production in a half, never mind four games. ... Read More Topics:

This one stings. A late TD toss by Kerry Collins keeps the Titans unbeaten and the Ravens thinking about what could -- no, what SHOULD -- have been. For most of the game Kerry Collins played more like Joan Collins, boasting a quarterback rating... Read More Topics:

I got a comment the other day from a reader who is worried that Baltimore's loss to the Steelers is the beginning of a downward spiral. Sorry, but I don't see it. Though they lost, the Ravens played hard (despite the mental mistakes) and... Read More Topics:

The game Monday night was hard to swallow. It would have been different if the Steelers had just beaten us, but I know that we, in reality, gave the game away. Jarret Johnson's foolish penalty didn't help; it gave the Steelers momentum, which... Read More Topics:

In compiling this list of the best 10 moments in Ravens history, I'm struck by how many plays and moments have to be passed over. In their relatively short existence, the Ravens have stockpiled enough memories to fill 50 "Best Of"... Read More Topics:

O.K., unrelated to the Ravens, unless they're playing in February, but I just heard that Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band will be the halftime entertainment for Super Bowl XLIII. It gets no better than this.Let the debates over the set list... Read More
Time to put my 2-0 record on the line. Baltimore's Monday night game against the Steelers features the two best defenses in the NFL. Throw in the fact that Baltimore has a rookie quarterback and a road game and it all adds up, I think, to... Read More Topics:
