Going Out Farther On The Limb

One of my friends emailed me yesterday and said, "O.K., you predicted the AFC North, but what about the rest?"  Preseason (heck, isn't this pre-preseason?) is the best time to make predictions, I think.  We've had time to digest the draft and note any buzz-worthy trades.  So, here it goes, with no apologies.

AFC East: Patriots (12-4), Bills (8-8), Jets (5-11), Dolphins (4-12)

AFC South : Jaguars (13-3), Colts (12-4), Texans (9-7), Texans (7-9)

AFC West: Chargers (11-5), Broncos (8-8), Chiefs (7-9), Raiders (3-13)

AFC North: Browns (11-5), Steelers (10-6), Ravens (9-7), Bengals (7-9)

NFC East: Cowboys (13-3), Giants (10-6), Eagles (7-9), Redskins (7-9)

NFC South: Saints (9-7), Panthers (8-8), Bucs (6-10), Falcons (3-13)

NFC West: Seahawks (11-5), Cardinals (9-7), 49ers (7-9), Rams (6-10)

NFC North: Packers (10-6), Bears (9-7), Vikings (8-8), Lions (7-9)

And my Super Bowl prediction?  I think the Jags beat the Cowboys.

Oh, and let me end with this: The Ravens will clearly show that they are headed in the right direction with John Harbaugh at the helm.  I think 9-7 is a great improvement over 5-11 and bodes well for the future.  They'll be back in the playoff hunt during Harbaugh's second season.

What do you think?  Write in and let me know.

Despite the fact that the Ravens are limping into the new season, the team will beat the Bengals.  I don't think Flacco is going to light up the scoreboard, nor do I think the offense, in general, is going to electrify the crowd. But I do think... Read More

The Ravens coaches think Joe Flacco gives them the best chance to win against the Bengals.  I disagree with the decision, but, having said that, I'm curious to see how Flacco does.  I do wish him well.  He is the future. There is, however,... Read More
