The Answer To A Trivia Question?

Answer: Ryan Minor
Question: Who played third base the day Cal Ripken ended the streak?

Answer: Jared Gaither, Adam Terry, or Barry Simms
Question: Who succeeded Jonathan Ogden at left tackle?

Man, what an unenviable position to be in. The Ravens will eventually find a person to play Ogden's position, of course, but you can't succeed JO.  Ask Ryan Minor.

Gaither, Terry, or Simms, the prohibitive favorites to win the job, will have impossible shoes to fill, and they shouldn't even try.

We have been so accustomed to dominance that the mistakes of Ogden's successor will be magnified and analyzed and reported widely.

Somehow, the new left tackle needs to just focus on the opposing defensive end.  Playing O-line is hard enough without carrying the legacy of JO around in your head.

Luckily, JO has said that he is a "Raven for life" and is willing to hang around and help develop his replacement.  That is great news and, more impressively, a nice tribute to JO's class and sense of professionalism.

If that happens maybe Gaither, Terry, or Simms will avoid being the Ryan Minor of the Ravens and will, instead, write his own impressive legacy.

What do you think?

Despite the fact that the Ravens are limping into the new season, the team will beat the Bengals.  I don't think Flacco is going to light up the scoreboard, nor do I think the offense, in general, is going to electrify the crowd. But I do think... Read More

The Ravens coaches think Joe Flacco gives them the best chance to win against the Bengals.  I disagree with the decision, but, having said that, I'm curious to see how Flacco does.  I do wish him well.  He is the future. There is, however,... Read More
