Phil Macek treats every aspect of the Ravens--from the preseason to the last snap of the game--as if it's fourth and inches and the game's tied late in the fourth quarter. He'll keep you up to speed on all things Ravens.
Why? That's what I want to know. Why did the Ravens raise ticket prices so sharply? According to some reports I've read, the Ravens raised prices by 24% for the upcoming season--more than 3.5 times the NFL average.
For a family of four to go to a game, the tab will exceed $300, once you factor in parking, concessions, and a program or jersey for junior.
In these tough times, with gas about $4 per gallon, who can afford these hikes? I know, I know, a lot of people happily plunk down the scratch for the right to scream their heads off every Sunday, and if you can afford the cost, then more power to you.
I just think somebody owes us an explanation. Hey, Mr. Biscotti, what gives? How can you possibly justify these increases? Are you that strapped for cash? Do we not get enough money from television rights? It's mind boggling.
I know a lot of people--blue-collar Raven maniacs who bleed purple and black--who simply can't afford to go to games anymore. That's the tragedy. Baltimore has always been a blue-collar town, with enough room for Oriole and Raven fans. Camden Yards became the home of the wine, cheese, and Blackberry set a long time ago. I'd hate to see the same thing happen to the Ravens.
All you fans out there...What do you think? How are you planning to fit Ravens games into your budget?
