And with the Ravens receiver woes, a ball control offense is just what the doctor ordered.
Now for the hard part. Despite my clamoring for Troy Smith to start this season, he didn't do much against the Vikings to seize the moment. He threw for only 25 yards. But he did show some ability to scramble, and he got us some points. He is inconsistent, to be sure. And if by chance Harbaugh names him the starter, I bet it will be with a little trepidation. Boller didn't do much either. He doesn't deserve to be the starter, Joe Flacco had a nice game, almost leading the Ravens into the end zone in the final moments of the fourth quarter. He is still raw, though.
Having said all that, I still support Smith, though I am keenly aware of his weaknesses.
The next two preseason games should tell us a whole lot.
