The party that used the issue so well against John Kerry in 2004 now has to deal with it's own nominee's flip-flopping.

General Foolishness

The first panel is an actual quote from Obama supporter former General Wesley Clark talking about John McCain's combat record. So, I wonder, would he say the same thing about former presidents such as George H.W. Bush or J.F.K., who both had combat experience in some ways similar to McCain's? I don't remember him blasting John Kerry for it in 2004, do you?

Indiana McCain

I haven't seen the new "Indiana Jones" sequel yet, though I'm really looking forward to catching it in the theaters. I heard they miked Harrison Ford's knees to get that authentic creaking sound whenever he breaks out into a brisk hobble! It seemed like a while since I last drew John McCain, and it felt good to work on his caricature some more.

Today's cartoon gave me the chance to give my caricature muscles a good work out. Call it cartoon calisthenics.  I haven't drawn John McCain all that much, even though his turkey neck is manna from heaven to cartoonists. On the gas tax issue, I was working the math out in my head ... the federal gas tax is 18.4 cents ... if the tax is suspended and I fill up my car with 10 gallons of gas, I will have saved $1.84. What a deal, huh?
