The City’s big announcement this week that it plans to move the annual Halloween party from the Castro to a parking lot near the Giants ballpark was definitely a swing and a miss. City officials seem to not get one thing when it comes to move the annual Castro Street soirée — if it’s government-sanctioned, it’s not really a party.
That’s not to say one couldn’t have a swell tailgate party in Lot A — I’ve been to plenty. But somehow those crazy, drunken samba lines seemed better suited to certain neighborhoods — and so far, that vast stretch of asphalt doesn’t qualify.
Maybe they should consider moving it inside the ballpark, where for one night it could be the country’s biggest playpen.
San Francisco hired an event planner to come up with a theme for the festivities. An event planner for Halloween — sounds like April Fools’ Day.
