How does one deal with the loss of everything?  Some 30 - 40 families have seen their homes destroyed by the Tehachapi fire (The West Fire).  Videos unavailable for this report have shown a fiery devastation.  While the fire is reported as "partially surrounded", it is unknown how long it will take to contain.

As of 1 am PST today, Kern Fire reported that the West Fire is 0% contained and now at 12300 acres with 250 fire personnel responding.
The West Fire was first reported yesterday at 3 PM PST. "Kern County Fire Department received a call for a vegetation fire near the Old West Ranch community, southeast of Tehachapi." Quickly a shelter was set up at Old Jacobs Jr. High School 126 Synder Ave. in Tehachapi.

    The photo accompanying this story is of the Tehachapi depot which burned about 13 months ago. It was never a home and is miles from the current fire it is being used to illustrate.
