Anita van der Sloot has been silent since her son's arrest. Rumors arose that Anita van der Sloot would arrive in Peru with a media consultant. Still there was no public response from the van der Sloot family.
Joran van der Sloot confessed to the murder of Stephanie Flores in Peru and walked investigators through the crime scene. He was transferred to Miguel Castro Castro prison, and days went by before Anita van der Sloot responded. Now she says her son is innocent.
According to ABC news, Anita van der Sloot emailed Joran's ex-girlfriend, saying "I am not giving interviews to any American media station because I don't trust them. Stay safe and pray for Joran. He is not the monster they like the world to see. he is traumatized, depressed an has an addiction. He is not a murderer. It stinks and feels like a big trap set up for him."
The email was sent to Melody Granadillo. In an interview with ABC news, Granadillo admitted that sometimes she feels lucky nothing bad happened to her.

This woman anita, is a big idiot. Her son was a suspect in a previous murder case and now has confessed to another murder. She needs to wake up and realize she is a bad parent and her kid is a psycho. Get some help both of you!
Anita and Paulus helped make Joran what he is today. Their never ending excuses, denials, and protection of the monster they created is why Joran is sitting in a Peruvian prison right now. If they had made any attempt to guide him and teach him responsibility instead of always defending his criminal actions and cleaning up his messes, things would have turned out differently and all these lives wouldn't have been ruined.
Anita and Paulus are perfect examples of how not to parent.
What would I do if my son turned out to be one of the most hated men in the news? How long would it take for me to come to terms with his actions? And would it be all my fault if I was Anita?
Even OK parents have psychopaths for kids. Joran is ultimately responsible and knew when to stop killing. But he just couldn't stop. He'll get what he gets, and I hope Mama VDS can acknowledge his actions of murder and move on to what's next, however grim it will be.

Anita is not an idiot, she is not a bad parent, she's just in denial, eventually she'll come to terms. There are hundreds of kids that kill, being brought up in authoritative households, how do you explain that! He's just that one kid that has a much deeper issue, not bad parenting.
I don't think Anita Van Der Sloot should be attacked. The US is better than that, c'mon people! Of course she's in hard-core denial. If she weren't, her soul would shatter. That's the huma minds way of protecting itself. I believe she really DOES believe he's innocent and has been "set up". Of course, slow but sure, reality will set in. She'll see the video tapes that prove no one else entered that motel room. She'll see Joran's clothing that's covered in blood. The day WILL come when reality will hit and it will hit hard. I pray for that woman, I wouldn't wish it on anyone. The people of Aruba are innocent too. No doubt the authorities helped cover up a murder - Paulus was obviously well connected, but the majority of the aruban citizen's helped search for Natalie for months on end, putting their own lives on hold. They are thrilled Joran's behind bars, they dislike him as much as we do. Please, no more hate in the name of Joran. He's done, it's over, he'll never be free

Anita is not in denial. It is her "modus operandi". It is easy to imagine how many times she protected him since childhood from teachers, friends, always making he think he is right and there is no laws for him, Only for other people. After reading her words is clear why he is what he is.
Joran van der slot was the last person seen with Natalee. When interviewed by police he accused two security guards. The security guards were released, because they had an airtight alibi. After Joran involved his friends two brothers. They testified that Natalie was that night in Jorans car. After, Joran confessed that Natalee died by a seizure, and hi dumped the body. The night Natalee disappeared was to long for der Slott family. They all worked hard to get reed of Natalee body, and all of them has blood on their hands. Now the Black widow is using a new strategy to save her monster named Joran, INSANITY. If Natalee, or Stephanie would be my daughter, I would give her not a happy ending with my hands. I would do it not for revenge, but to break this vicious circle. To stop the black widow and her criminal family to make another, and another heinous murder. The Aruba authorities are so deeply involved in the Natalee case that the only option left for them is to DESTROY ANY EVIDENCE IN

I'm glad anita is finally speaking out! her son is innocent and 'nothing in this case makes any sense! Joran is innocent and whether anita likes it or not Joran needs a good American Lawyer to fight his case!
I pray for all of the individuals involved in these 2 cases. I only find it odd that these 2 young women likely lost their lives on the same day. I think that van der Sloot is responsible for both murders, but I wonder why this man was able to walk around freely, moving from country to country after 1 young woman had been last seen with him and likely murdered? This is becoming an all too common place in this crazy world. When will things like this ever end? Moreover, I don't even feel that there is a need for a trial in either of these cases. I pray that justice systems and other criminal systems learn from these costly mistakes. There are so many people affected by what van der Sloot has done, all across the world. I cannot imagine what the families of the young women feel. I only hope that Anita van der sloot finds it in herself to try and relate to the families of these women. I wonder how would she feel if the tables were turned? Maybe she should take some time to think!
