The BlackBerry Cuve 9300 first found its way to Internets via an internal Research In Motion document. Now, only a few weeks later, the first pictures of the latest Curve have surfaced and can be viewed below.
The specs on the 9300 aren't too clear just yet. Most are saying it will add 3G and WiFi capability to the Curve 8520. As you can tell from the photos in the slideshow below, the latest Curve seems to be running on OS 5.0 and only has 256MB of data.
This seems to conflict with some people thinking all the latest phones from RIM will have a new standard of 512MB and run on OS 6. If, in fact, RIM wants to differentiate between high-end and low-end customers, offering phones with a greater variety in specifications would be an excellent way to execute that business plan.
You can almost picture a customer who is new to BlackBerry starting off on a device like the upcoming 9300. They get used to the interface of the phone and how it works and eventually fall in love with the device. After a short time they want to graduate on to a more advanced type of BlackBerry, so they pick up something like the Bold 9650 or the soon-to-be-available 9800 and experience all the best that BlackBerry has to offer.
Hopefully we'll get more information on the BlackBerry Curve 9300 sooner rather than later, and with that, a glimpse into what RIM is doing to try and hold on to their smartphone marketshare.
