Game of the Week: FAMU edges Morgan State in OT

Trevor Scott booted a 35-yard field goal in overtime as Florida A&M took sole control of second place in the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference with a 31-28 victory over Morgan State at Hughes Stadium in Baltimore Saturday.

FAMU quarterback Curtis Pulley put the Rattlers ahead 28-21 in the fourth quarter with a 26-yard scoring run.  Almost six minutes later, Edwin Baptiste caught a 53-yard scoring strike from Morgan State QB Carlton Jackson to even the score.

Pulley threw for a touchdown and rushed for two more to pace the Rattlers (6-2, 4-1).  Pulley finished the day with 231 rushing yards on 20 carries.  He also completed 13 of his 22 pass attempts for 174 yards.

Jackson completed 16 of his 22 tosses for 207 yards and two scores.  He also rushed for a touchdown, as did Domanick West.  Morgan State fell to 5-3 overall and 3-2 in the MEAC with its second straight conference loss.

Florida A&M struck first, less than two minutes into the game, when Pulley hit Kevin Elliott with a 16-yard touchdown pass.  Phillip Sylvester followed a few minutes later with a 19-yard scoring run to put FAMU up 14-0.

Morgan State got on the board just before the end of the first quarter when Jackson and Edward Morton-Green hooked up for a 27-yard scoring strike.  West tied the game on a two-yard run a minute into the second quarter.

The quarterbacks traded touchdown runs in the third quarter.
