It turns out that it's not about just gay sex, it's about bisexual group orgy sex that makes the Calvin Klein billboard in Soho so offensive.
Columnist Dierdre McGruder from McClatchy Newspapers uses Fox News reports to support her outrage about the rather shocking Klein ad that was on the side of a building in Manhattan.
In her article, McGruder opines:
Near nudity isn't enough. Implied sweaty sex isn't enough. Implied sweaty gay sex isn't enough. Now we've moved into implied sweaty group bisexual sex..."
What's so funny is that she seems almost OK with the implied gay sex, but it's the bisexual sex that is offensive to her. The article was syndicated, but initially printed in the Sun Herald, serving Biloxi, Gulfport and South Mississippi. You can leave a thought for her by clicking here.
The ad was originally called the "three-way" ad, with two guys and a girl on the sofa in an embrace, but very clearly there's a guy on the floor who's about to join in, or maybe just watch. The real question is, what does it all have to do with selling jeans anyway?
Nevertheless, McGruder's outrage and shock comes a bit too late, and a bit misplaced.
Alas, the ad was replaced last week with a girl in a bikini.

That billboard was actually up for a pretty long time and, I think, probably naturally ran its course before being swapped out. Calvin Klein has always pushed the envelope with its sexy marketing and I don't see the company stopping over some gripes about this (very hot, I might add) billboard. I can't wait to see what they come up with next! To the comments haters... Tune out your fire and brimstone pastor for a minute and go read your bible more closely. Fake bisexual activist. You know you're not into women so why fight for a label you're hiding under? Also, it makes no sense to do this while settled down in a permanent relationship. You don't come across as someone whose grateful for anything. Focus on yourself, your partner, your life, your immediate surroudings and step away... you focus way too much on this bisexual issue. You've said it once, twice, more than enough times -- the articles are diff but it's the same worn out message. You've got problems that are deeper than sexual orientation issues. Sex should be engaged in for love NOT for power, competition or that cool factor. To give sex away so easily to so many really cheapens (and I emphasize) CHEAPENS the experience. I also find it disgusting that some would want to seduce such a high number of ppl in the triple digits. Possible causes – lack of self-respect, low self-worth, looking for love in all the wrong places, equating love with sex which are not the same, to name a few. If there’s no initial emotional attraction BEFORE the sexual attraction and hooking up with the person is just about the desire for their body – then one is just *using* another human being to satisfy their own selfish urges. These types of sexual experiences clearly are not above love but something else seriously wrong w/ the individual who has a skewed view of sex & love. Anybody whose goal in life is seduce as many ppl as possible and then boast about it is really troubled inside.
Orgy seekers are pleasure addicts. To them it's like -- Who cares about the REAL person behind the body who are essentially treated as objects to satisfy the conquesters dysfunctional sexual appetite who then moves on to the next piece of meat to get the next tingly thrill. I would describe these folks as impulsive animals driven by lust who don't exercise wise judgement or emotional maturity -- and indicate no true desire to have a deeper connection.
