In an effort to reduce pollution, obesity and traffic congestion, cities across the country (and world) are asking residents to participate in commute challenges for 2010. Some challenges are aimed at workplace teams, others at individual commuters. All offer incentives and prizes for people willing to change their behaviors and habits and use alternative forms of transportation. A great way to get folks out of their single person cars and onto bikes, buses, trains and the like.

As the year nears Bike to Work week, many cities and regions amp up their commute challenges and emphasis.
Is your city hosting a commuter challenge? Do you plan to partcipate?
Please leave any commuter challenges left off this (admittedly) small list in the comments.
Have a happy and safe new year!

Carson City, Nevada will be doing our 3rd annual Bicycle Commuter Challenge in May during Bike to Work Week. The response was fantastic last year!
