Wedding day disasters, part 2

Sunset Kiss
             Sunset kiss in Paradise

Don't ruin your wedding day in paradise with these disasters:

Falling, flying cakes...

Cakes do topple and fall, especially when moved or when baked by an inexperienced but well-meaning friend or relative.

At a lovely garden wedding the mother of the bride decided the cake was in the wrong spot and asked two men in formal black attire to move the cake.  The cake wobbled back and forth, leaving globs of white frosting on the front of both men's suits and huge dents in the lovely cake.

Another cake at another wedding seemed to have a mind of its own when the top tier flew off the table and splattered on the floor.  The brother of the bride saved the day when he tossed a basket of dinner rolls to the tearful bride and demanded, juggle!  Unknown to the crowd she had recently been learning circus tricks, so she juggled, the tears and cake were forgotten and laughter prevailed.

Cakes left out for too long at a warm outdoor reception may start to lean, slip and melt into a mushy blob.

The solutions;  add lots of flowers to hide the holes in the cake left by the men in black suits, juggle dinner rolls, choose a cake with only a few stable tiers and put it in a cool place, let the pros move it, if necessary, and if all else fails, cut it quickly so the photographer has the shot before it topples!

Fainting people...

The bride, mom, bridesmaid and even the groom have all been known to pass out while standing at the altar.   Warm weather, excitement, an empty stomach, or a wild bachelor party the night before may be the cause.  I have witnessed a wedding aboard a boat, when in the hot midday sun a bridesmaid and a groomsman fell over at the exact same time.  Fortunately they didn't fall overboard.   Picking up and reviving part of the wedding party can take a toll on that special day.

What to do:  Remind everyone to eat, drink plenty of water, avoid alcohol,  breathe, and be ready and willing to catch the person next to you if they do start to sway.
