It’s Sunday. Wouldn’t it be lovely to have a day of rest from cars, buses and motorcycles? You could if you lived in Jakarta, San Francisco, Bogota or one of many other cities around the globe that have designated select Sundays during the year as car-free.
Days without cars not only reduce air pollution, traffic congestion and promote a healthier, active lifestyle; but they’re also good for business: When people get out of their cars and into the streets, they spend their money locally.
Isn’t it time bicycle-friendly Philadelphia, got on board? Drop your City Council Member a quick email telling them that you want regularly scheduled car-free days in Philadelphia. Don't know your City Council Member? Find out here.
