There's ample parking at the Bike the Strike station at City Hall
If worry about finding a secure place to lock your bike now that the pole-mounted parking meters are gone, has kept you from cycling during the SEPTA strike, the Bicycle Coalition and the City of Philadelphia have your back.
Yesterday, they set up a BIke the Strike service station on Dilworth Plaza at City Hall. Open from 8:00 AM to 6:00 PM for the duration of the SEPTA strike, the station offers free parking in their bike corral, maps, travel advice and hot coffee and cocoa. The station will be fully staffed during its operating hours, so there will be people keeping an eye on the bikes. However, it's not valet parking. Bicyclists need to bring a lock and secure their bikes within the corral.
Still, on a day like today, when every available bike rack and tall street sign have multiple bikes chained to them; there was plenty of parking space available at the Bike the Strike station — at least as of nine o'clock this morning.
