It's an old cliche, but it really is extraordinary how much things can change and nevertheless stay the same. Case in point, which comes to us from Doobybrain: Thomas Edison (yep, the guy who invented the light bulb) doing shooting fixie bike tricks contrasted with this music video of Japanese cyclists doing the same.
Cycling, simply a form of transportation for most riders, serves as a surprisingly robust source of creative inspiration for others. The Weekend Pick, an ongoing feature of this blog, will highlight a memorable example of bicycle-inspired art, music, and other creative activity each week. Please note: "memorable" need not suggest that the creations displayed are necessarily of high-quality or lasting cultural significance. We're looking not just for work that belongs in the MOMA, but rather for an eclectic mix of art that speaks to the eccentric nature of bicycle culture.

Great video! But Thomas Edison is running the camera, not the bike. The guy on the bike is Eugene A. Neidert, a late 1800's cyclist.
