It has been called “Touchdown Jesus,” "Big Butter Jesus," and “Quicksand Jesus.” On Monday, June 14th, the 62 foot representation of Jesus Christ was destroyed by an act of God, burning to the ground.
The icon which bears the official title of the “King of Kings,” was struck by lightning around 11:15 p.m. The thunderbolt, which also resulted in a fire in the adjacent Lawrence Bishop Music Theater, caused an estimated $700,000 worth of damage according to Monroe Fire Chief Mark Neu.
The 16,000 lb. wood and styrofoam sculpture which is reported to have cost $250000 to build, was designed for the Solid Rock Church in Monroe Ohio, by sculptor James Lynch, who also built a huge statue of the Roman sea god Neptune for the Caesar’s Palace Casino in Las Vegas.
Members of the 3,000 strong mega-church, are stunned. Kevin Jones who is member of the multi denominational church, is quoted as saying to WHIO TV in Dayton, "I'm thinking it's a sign from Jesus that we need to learn something, as Christians, as a whole, we're not doing something right,"
The Bible clearly agrees with Mr. Jones in unambiguous terms:
Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image, or any likeness of any thing that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth:
Thou shalt not make thee any graven image, or any likeness of any thing that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the waters beneath the earth:
When thou shalt beget children, and children's children, and ye shall have remained long in the land, and shall corrupt yourselves, and make a graven image, or the likeness of any thing, and shall do evil in the sight of the LORD thy God, to provoke him to anger: I call heaven and earth to witness against you this day, that ye shall soon utterly perish from off the land whereunto ye go over Jordan to possess it; ye shall not prolong your days upon it, but shall utterly be destroyed.
Despite Biblical admonitions against it and the obvious sign that God was clearly not pleased with the idolatrous statue, church officials have vowed to rebuild it. There is little doubt that the funds to rebuild the sculpture will be easily obtained.
Christian America refuses to see the signs of an angry God. Can her destruction be far behind?

I couldn't have said it better myself, Craig.
But will "Christians" listen? NO! We are just as idolatrous as the Jews were and our end will be the same. God is no respecter of persons and we refuse to learn the lessons of the Jews, or of the Bible, or of history. What is it about "Thou shalt no make unto thee any graven image" that is so hard to understand!!! Do we have to learn the same way the Jews did? They were sent as slaves to Babylon for their idolatrous crimes. We are much worse! We have simply invited Babylon to come here and make slaves of us in our own land. And I'll bet there isn't but a handfull of American "Christians" that even have a clue what I'm referring to. Idolatry is NOT Christianity! Idolatry comes from the Roman Catholic Church and it is practiced by her Harlot Daughters. And unless they repent of this idolatry and destroy all forbidden images and idols and repent of the ecumenical movement, our divine destruction is assured and its already happening!
You simply shouldn't build a giant lightning rod and expect it not to get hit by lightning.
Very good Craig, but who is going to listen! "Cry aloud and spare not, show my people their sins...!" Isa. 58:1

Lightning from the finger of God. Ha ha.
You don't know how PAGAN that belief is, do you?
Or graven images.

@xexon,
What?
You don't see the humour in this? The irony?
Maybe the Muslims got it right about not making graven images?
The Christians certainly didn't listen.

Maybe lightning just hits tall objects.
I do see the humor in it and I do understand how pagan it is. Did you not read the article?
Read the comment from "InquisitionUpdate." His comment scores a direct hit on the truth of the matter. I am in total agreement with him. The Christian "church" today is 99 44/100 % apostate.
This is indeed a sign.
The message will go right over their heads and for certain they will continue in their crafty ways. Being a 501(c)3 church is assurance of Apostasy for certain. His word is mighty and man would do well to heed it thus. Thank you again Craig for an excellent article.
Reminds me of the pagan "Burning Man" festival. The metal frame left behind happened to look like the horns of baphomet hand sign, interesting. The Sculptor also did the Dagon sculpture in Vegas? Also, if i have a figurine of mickey mouse, or a garden gnome, will God strike it with lightening? And why not the Christ sculpture of Rio De Janeiro? Many steeples are grounded in churches and bear a Christian cross on them? This nation is toast, but that's old news to me. I'm waiting, tick, tick, tick.
I suspect that if God were really all that angry with idolatry, most churches in this country would be toasted right along with the touchdown Jesus. I think the real issue here is that God doesnt care one way or another. Lightning hits a person no big deal lightning hits a church no big deal lightning hits a representation of his own son viola. To me it says Im off the hook. If even God doesnt like Jesus, then what am I wasting my time with him for?
Ben You assume much. It is interesting, that the ancients, including Pagans, saw omens and signs all around them. It is amazing that you would discount the idea of ominous happenings. Is it not because you refuse to see, nor consider anything which runs counter to your personal belief structure? This is precisely why Christians will refuse the portent for what it is it runs counter to their personal agenda.
That statue was not Jesus. It was an idolatrous image.
Believe what you like. Its none of my business what you think about these things. My business is to bear witness to ostensible Christians to the end that they might not have an excuse of ignorance in the day of judgment.

Remember the ten commandments, that God said, thou shalt make a graven image nor idols and statues before me.
