It's that time of year: Minnesota State Fair time, located off Snelling in the heart of our great State Capital- St. Paul, the Minnesota State Fair is one of the most widely renowned. (I may be prejudiced).
Going to the state fair, fighting through the mob of people, and bonding while gorging yourself in as many on-a-stick delicacies as you can stomach, makes the Minnesota State Fair a great place to go with your best friend. The heat, the crowd, the food. What else could you want?
While it's a general rule that you walk into this experience without judging each other, that doesn't mean that other people are off limits. People watching at the fair, for many, rivals even the food. A great game to play is State Fair Bingo. A scorecard can be found basically by googling: Minnesota State Fair Bingo Card. You can make your own wagers on who wins, but I suggest the prize be treating the winner to some Martha's Cookies and Milk.
For those of you hesitant to bond over this blatant disregard for social niceties, there are of course the many traditional things that you and your best friend can do:
Want to shop til you drop?
Catch a free performance or a not so free performance at the Grand Stand?
How about going to visit the animals that you don't generally see in the heart of the city? Make sure to visit BOB number like 2000. The biggest Pig in Minnesota.
Of course there is always the haunted house, which is a Minnesota State staple and the scene of a pants peeing incident..
Or if you just want to experience the stomach lurching thrill that only the Giant Slide can provide the Adventure Park is the place for you.
Just remember to visit the Oink Booth so that you and your friend can have matching pig-ear headgear.
Some notable booths/events to mention:
The Amateur Talent Show
Minnesota Public Radio- The Current booth. This is an obvious stop, as they will most likely be playing amazing music.
And of course you should check out The Battle of the Bands. More specifically Accidental on September 2nd, 7pm at the Music Mayhem stage at The X-Zone, located at the corner of Murphy Avenue and Underwood Street, so that you can cheer on Nikii Post and the rest of her musical cohorts.
A day like this will hopefully spawn lots of photographic evidence of the fun and undignified things that you and your friend did, so remember to submit the most Minnesota State Fair experience photo into the Minnesota State Fair photo contest. You can win admission for four and a sheet of ride tickets. And obviously after a day of fun in the sun, you would want nothing less than to do it all over again!

I'm not the sister that peed her pants - you can figure out which one did! LOL
Yay Nikki!
Couple with matching outfits and proudly wearing a fanny pack. That is totally a Minnesota State Fair sight! I hope I find someone in spandex pants picking a wedgie.
