Bengal quarterback Carson Palmer spent ten minutes chatting with ESPN's Colin Cowherd on Cowherd's syndicated radio program June 23.
Palmer indicated he was excited about the upcoming season. While the Bengals overall are not a 'veteran team' in terms of years, Palmer expressed he was pleased with the attitudes of all that had come out to Offseason Training Activity practices and saw a great amount of hard work from everyone.
When questioned about the team's ability to move past the drama wide receiver Chad Ochocinco tends to bring to the team, Palmer stated, "You have to accept that's who Chad is. You have to take the good with the bad, and the good is, he's a game changer."
Palmer also gave major props to former Bengal T.J. Houshmandzadeh. "You don't replace a guy like T.J. He's a great talent. You just move on. We have great talent here."
Cowherd finished the interview by asking Palmer how he'd characterize his career in Cincinnati to this point. "Disappointing. I've been here six seasons and we've only had one playoff run. Every offseason, when I'm sitting on the couch watching the other teams play in the playoffs, I just want to tear my hair out. I want that run again."
Palmer, being a talented public statesman, gave tremendous compliments to Cowherd himself. Palmer told Colin he listens to his 10:00 am to 2:00 pm radio show every chance he gets because he's one of the few sports radio personalities that knows what he's talking about when discussing the NFL.
As an example, Palmer told Cowherd he agreed with Cowherd's previous assessment that one of the biggest offseason moves in the NFL was Jon Kitna signing with the Cowboys. Palmer praised Kitna as a true locker room leader that will add greatly to the Dallas environment.
