For those who travel to foreign countries with their iPhone searching for good beer, Tokyo beer enthusiast may have hatched a great idea. For their city they’ve developed an iPhone App that has offline maps and claims to present a selection of “Tokyo’s top craft beer bars.”
Called Beer in Japan iPhone App is foreign tourist friendly. Why? It gives offline access. No need to rack up expensive roaming and data charges, nor seek random and sometimes costly access to wifi. This just might be a good idea for other beer-centric cities worldwide who want to welcome international beer tourists who out of their own country don’t want to rack up very costly roaming charges.
The Tokyo city app includes direct links to the Beer in Japan, iPhone-optimised website for listings across Japan – including Yokohama, Osaka, Okinawa, Sapporo, Kobe, Kyoto, Nagoya, Hiroshima, and more – plus features on Japanese breweries.
Though dominated by the megabreweries and a decades long sluggish economy Japan’s craft brewers have survived and maintained a craft beer culture. There are about 225 craft brewers in Japan. It’s not surprising that Japanese beer enthusiasm is growing. See 20,000 Japanese beer enthusiasts celebrate beer diversity and flavor.

This is awesome!!!
Bring on the iPhone Apps!
It's a good app (and it will only improve as he develops it) and English craft beer information, blogs, reviews, services, apps will only get better here. The great thing about this and other sites is they are done for free and to better develop the knowledge and condition of craft beer and craft beer bars in Japan. It's not advertiser biased and brewers dont pay to be featured. The craft beer scene here is hopefully improving (even in these economically trying times), we're getting the best of the US beers on tap here now and the Japanese brewers are making some kick ass brews! Come on over here and find out! If anyone does ocme over, don't hestitate to contact us and we'll giude you to the best places and probably share a pint in a few of them!
