From time to time, I feature reviews and stories from my colleague and fellow B&B guru, cookbook author and intrepid traveler, Maxine Pinson. It seems appropriate today to feature the only oceanfront B&B in Plymouth, MA, in honor of Thanksgiving. While the pilgrims were the first to settle here, innkeepers Denise and Jack Kedian, offer more contemporary accommodations with access to all the history and shoreline that made this the land of plenty when pilgrims first discovered it. Plymouth continues to attract travelers today, in large part to experience that pilgrim history that makes this area so well known.
Here is the INNside skinny from Maxine’s recent visit to the Beachhouse Oceanfront B&B in Plymouth, MA:
I have an affinity for bold colors artistically woven into a color scheme of interest and good taste. However, I love the crisp white color motif found throughout A Beachhouse Oceanfront B&B. Located on a private beach, just 20 feet from the ocean, the sound of swooshing waves and salty breezes completes the beachside magic. From the inn's common areas and sundeck, guests are able to enjoy the beauty of Cape Cod Bay and beyond. The guestrooms (two) and baths are welcoming and comfortable. For guests desiring a larger area, the garden level provides more space as well as additional privacy.
A delicious breakfast is prepared and served each morning by Denise and Jack, who have a knack for making guests feel special and wanted even before their arrival at the inn. The beautifully presented meal is enjoyed by guests either in the seaside dining room or alfresco on the sundeck. Breakfasting at Oceanfront B&B, while drinking in the ever-changing ocean view and chatting with the inn's gracious hosts and other guests, provides the perfect elixir for beginning a new day in old Cape Cod.
Beachhouse Oceanfront B&B is located on the outskirts of historic Plymouth, MA where activities and sights to see abound. Just fifteen minutes from the center of Plymouth, the B&B is also conveniently located to Boston and Newport; ferries to Martha's Vineyard and Nantucket ferries are a short thirty minute drive. This was my first visit to Plymouth, and I do not plan for it to be my last one. I only had time to visit one of the historical sites in the area, and a visit to Plimoth Plantation (Plimoth/old English spelling) was the place most highly recommended. I was not disappointed, except by the fact that my time there was limited. A trip to Plimoth Plantation is truly an interactive step-back-into history experience providing a glimpse into life as it existed in the early 1600s, and I would love to be able to experience their Thanksgiving festivities one year.

Of the different places I have visited in Massachusetts, including Boston, the Plymouth area has taken its place as my favorite. My husband is a history buff, and he is anxious to visit this historical part of the country as well. When we do, we will definitely stay at The Beachhouse Oceanfront B&B!
The Innside Skinny: While many B&Bs are adult oriented, children and families are welcomed here on the family floor. It’s great way to introduce a living history lesson, while treating the whole family to an oceanfront B&B getaway. Note, this B&B is open May – October, 2010, but it’s not too early to book. Reservations being taken for spring and summer, 2010 now.
