Growing out your bangs? Reese Witherspoon is! 3 Tips to make growing out your bangs easier.

Reese Witherspoon inspired so many women to find the courage to finally get the bang they longed to have.  After she made her bang debut, women flocked salons with pictures of Reese, hoping to steal her look.  (Hey, you're not alone. I chopped mine too!)

But Reese showed us at the People's Choice Awards that times are changing. (Well, at least for her hairstyle.)  And if you've ever had to grow out your bangs, you know what a pain it is to get past that in between stage.  I'm currently there, just a bit shorter than Reese is in this picture, and I have to force myself to put down the shears and leave them alone.

The in between stage is what drives most women to just cut them short again.  But if you want to grow out your bangs, and you're finding youself going crazy, here are some tips to make it easier.

  1. Use product.  If you had a forward bang style, your bangs are going to need a little help getting used to being side-swept.  Apply a light pomade before drying and you'll have an easier time.
  2. Blow dry, don't air dry!  This is so important!  If you let your bangs air dry, they'll flop in your face.  If you don't typically blow dry your whole head, just concentrate on your bangs.  Apply the product, use a brush and teach them where to go.  Round brushes add a bit of volume, flat brushes are good for those wanting the straight look.
  3. Adorn your hair.  Hey, cute hair accessories are not just for kids.  There are many hair accessory styles that will fit the look you're going for.  Sometimes, no matter what you do, your bang won't go in the direction you're looking for.  Simply clip it to the side and go on with your day.  (Looking cute, of course!)
